Work that goes beyond your desk
We work in a professional way towards our shared goals, knowing the work we do makes a genuine, lasting difference on the environment. . As a Senior Project Manager for the Transformation and Programme Management Function, your role will include:
- Leading dispersed multi-disciplinary teams.
- Managing complex projects with multiple workstreams/ deliverables from initiation to delivery.
- Working with business users to define requirements and target benefits.
- Creating and maintaining project documentation (business case, project plan, progress reports, risk and issues log).
- Providing project assurance across related projects, working with project teams to ensure consistent and effective delivery.
Respect for your expertise
The posts have been created to allow our Senior Project Manager to deliver two areas of work:
- Future of Regulation – managing a programme of work implementing new regulatory duties and delivering improved systems and processes to support our role as Scotland’s environmental regulator. This role will require the candidate to align a diverse set of established regulatory projects, supporting individual project managers to drive consistency across the products being delivered and the management of project information such as planning, risk management, benefits realisation, reporting and resource tracking. The role is essential to creating a unified approach to change within our regulatory function.
- Data and Digital transformation – managing projects delivering new tools and infrastructure that allow us to drive efficiencies and deliver improved digital capabilities. This role will help us to deliver SEPAs target digital state; working across the whole organisation to define and deliver enterprise-wide solutions. This is an opportunity that will transform how we work. We have developed multi-year digital and data strategies and are now designing a coherent digital and data architecture to deliver our ambition. This will allow us to make robust evidence-based decisions to protect and improve Scotland’s environment. Working within the realm of public sector reform, we aim to develop our target digital infrastructure which delivers efficiencies and improved services. We will be replacing out-of-date, disjointed systems and applications with a coherent set of capabilities; creating systems that can be re-used across SEPA and other parts of the public sector and to improve the experience for a wide range of customers.
You’ll need…
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Experience delivering in waterfall, agile and hybrid environments.
Support that goes beyond the workplace

- Hybrid and Flexible working opportunities
- Up to 35 days annual leave and 7 additional public holidays each year (pro rata)
- Paid time off to support your Wellbeing and enable you to Volunteer in your community
- Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
- Progressive Family Friendly policies
- Training & development to enable colleagues to improve their skills, competencies and knowledge to perform at their best
Plus, many more lifestyle benefits such as 24/7 access to an online employee discount platform, credit union facilities and access to a Cycle to Work Scheme.
